OUR SUMMER 2021 WINNERS!

Kinley (7 yrs)

I am a 7 year old who loves nature and loves art! I was thinking about summer and how much I love nature and I came up with a summer insect that I thought was very beautiful so I painted it. I thought about the background and the flowers and exactly how it should be painted. I hope people think this is as beautiful as real butterflies in the summer sky.

Tia (11 yrs)

I am Tia. I wanted to draw a flower with lots of petals and I liked pastel colors.

CM YEUNG (18 yrs)

When I think about the summer, I think of the giddy feeling of freedom from stifling classrooms and piles of homework. It makes me want to jump up and celebrate with my friends! In the past year, I decided to make the best of the coronavirus situation and pursue my creative endeavors. This is a scene from one of my creative endeavors: my children book, Isabelle and the Magic Bird. I wrote and illustrated the book. This piece also symbolized the freedom I hoped I would feel when I graduated high school. I published my children’s book, Isabelle and the Magic Bird, a week ago (book seen here: https://www.amazon.com/Isabelle-Magic-Bird-environment-childrens-ebook/dp/B095SXCX7C/ref=zg_bsnr_156003011_14?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=PBVC9QH40VJRYG23QX0S).

Hi, my name is Ayushi. My drawing was inspired by spring. The most obvious thing that comes to mine when thinking of spring is flowers. To me, spring is flowers, but also a vibrant time of year, a colorful and gorgeous time of year, as well as a time to grow. My piece represents all the things I think of when I think of spring. I think of flora, such as a tulip, bright colors, and growth, which plants often do. My drawing is definitely worth voting for, especially if you think that spring has sprung when you see nature’s true colors reappear.

Forrest (@MysticWysteria) (17 yrs)

My name is Forrest, and true to my namesake, I've always been deeply connected to the natural world. My piece 'Wildwood' is inspired by the beauty of the wilderness as it comes to life in spring. Wildwood is the name for an expanse of wilderness untouched by man. To me, this word calls up images of vivid colors, the unrefined beauty of nature, and freedom.

As I created it, my thought process was drawn to the parts of one's soul that are equally free, untouched by the environment around us, the parts most essential to our own nature. I believe that we all have our own wildwood; just as it is crucial to preserve the forests that host such a breadth of biodiversity in flora and fauna, we should also strive to protect the part of ourselves that bloom with our own hopes and dreams, nurturing and keeping alive the natural beauty both around us and inside us. I hope that everyone who believes in the same goal will vote for my art and pursue this dream together.

I always ask my parents to take pictures of beautiful sights I see, and then I try to paint them. I chose this painting for the contest because I find birds to be very colorful, and I had seen this bird on a walk one day.

naik (15 yrs)

I’ve been practically obsessed with drawing since second grade. I remember I would tell my mom I wanted to join an art class every time we drove by a school. I was always inspired by people. As much as I don’t like drawing people, that’s what inspires me. I would paint landscapes because my mom really likes those types of paintings, I drew themed items like a fruit bowl for the kitchen because my art teacher really liked going with a theme, I drew minimalist stickers because my friend really liked that style—I will always keep drawing stuff to see other people happy because that’s what makes me happy. I think people should vote for my art because it represents something bigger than just “sad” or “red” or “kind,” but they should vote for whatever makes them happy.

What inspired me to create my art was I wanted to let my emotions flow through the art. Abstract art shouldn’t be perfect. It’s your way of art where no one can judge you and you can just be you.

Noor (17 yrs)

My name is Noorain. I am 17 years old and from Houston (Texas). I am 12th grade senior year student. Creating art is my hobby and it’s a very effective way to stimulate the mind. An artistic hobby helps to improve our observation and hand-eye coordination. My artwork is based on the concept of Hope, Optimism, Peace, Motivation and Success. In my opinion they are all inter connected. It starts from believing in yourself. Never lose hope instead learn lessons from your failure. Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness. This COVID-19 Pandemic uncertainty is just a temporary phase of life and hope is the only weapon that gives us power to deal with all the obstacles and barriers in life. We make close relationship with God, to overcome worldly concerns because we trust and have faith that the presence of God watches over us, the power of God protects us and the love of God surrounds us. Always try to be a motivated person because motivated person is full of positive energy and optimism that leads that person to rise high and shine bright. Life will be miracle only if you know the direction in which to look. Never lose hope and make balance in life. If balance is out, you are out in the race of life.
